What is Hardscape?

Hardscaping is a term that refers to the non-living elements of landscaping, such as rock, retaining walls, pavers, ect. Essentially it covers everything but plants. Now, that does not mean that you cannot have any plants, if Blue A.R.C. Services LLC, does your landscaping! It simply means that the only planting we do is hydroseeding. We don’t put in bushes, trees or flowers, however, we will make sure that if you want plants in your landscaping, the soil is amended, driplines are set up and everything is ready for the plants of your choosing. In fact, if you already know what plants you want, we can tailor the watering system and soil to meet the exact needs of the plants.

  • Xeriscaping (pronounced zera-scape), centers around the use of native or water conservative plants that require minimal water and low maintenance. These plants are often found in rock beds, rather than mulch and the landscape looks like a semi barren desert.

As explained above, hardscape certainly does not preclude plants of any type being incorporated into the landscape. Rather we seek to offer the very best display for the plants of your choosing, striving to create a landscape that looks natural, rather than looking like bits and pieces that just don’t go together.

Installing hardscape for your landscaping also has the advantage that it can be done any time of year, because rocks don’t care if it is 85 degrees or 25 below zero… although we probably won’t be there, if it is that cold.

  • Absolutely! We are happy to work with you to design the landscape of your dreams, which often includes plants. The only planting we do is hydroseeding, however we would love to incorporate any existing plants and any plants you wish to add, into the overall plan, including amendment of the soil and even drip systems, to provide water, so your plants have what they need to thrive. This makes it possible for you to add the plants whenever it is convenient for you or once it has reached an ideal time for planting!

  • We offer custom retaining walls and steps, which can be functional, decorative or both. Each wall has extensive drainage behind it, to ensure the stability and longevity of your wall for years to come. Don’t hesitate to ask about our 4 part drainage system that we use on all of our walls!

  • Just need to refresh the old rock bed or mulch bed ? We have you covered. How about a new rock bed or mulch bed? We have you covered. Need a stiff one on the rocks? We don’t have you covered, but after you find one, give us a call and we can take care of your landscaping rock!

  • Flagstone, breeze, gravel, road base, pavers. There are so many options, when it comes to building pathways and patios in your landscaping. This means that we can find the perfect match for your landscaping dream! Need to match an existing pathway or patio? Just say the word and you won’t know where the old one ends and the new one begins! And what better way to spend time in your new landscaping paradise and show it off, than gathered around a firepit with your friends!

  • You mean the ugly looking, rough plastic stuff that looks and feels terrible? No, not at all! Artificial grass has advanced leaps and bounds, compared to what it once was. It is possible to get it in many different varieties and many different grass blade lengths. This means you can find a grass that best suits your needs, whether it be for pets, kids or simply just so you can look out and actually see something that is green for a change!

“We hired Blue A.R.C. to put in artificial turf along the side of our house. In addition, we had Theo install a French drain to help with the run off which was dragging our wood chips away. From start to finish Theo was professional and knowledgeable. All of the work was done on time, the communication throughout was helpful and timely. In fact Theo was able to fix underlining issues created by other contractors with ease and within his original estimate. We would definitely recommend Theo to our friends and seek out his help in the future.”
